Orchid is defined as the Organization for Research and Clinical Cancer Health Innovation in Dignity and dismantling of Disparity in care. What does that mean? Words have meaning. When we think of current cancer treatments and therapies, it is using recombinant DNA, or DNA immunotherapies. To get there we need research. To survive the treatment, we need dignity in care and the removal of health disparities that prevent treatment outcome success. Treatments have meaning. One therapy cannot exist without the other. Going forward, it will take disruption to current cancer care, innovation in treatment design and attention focus to prevent health disparities in vulnerable populations. All of these are necessary to build the framework of Cancer Survivorship. Education, Community Support, Advocacy, Public Policy and a commitment to finding a future cure.
